Come to the Circusstad Festival 2026 in Rotterdam! This five-day event takes place from April 29 to May 3 and offers a varied program for all ages. The festival takes place on and around Schouwburgplein.

Theater Rotterdam and the old Luxor Theater have wheelchair spaces in all auditoriums. At Schouwburgplein, the Opticum, the Chapiteau, and the Ballroom Truck at the Maritime Museum have limited wheelchair access (only a few spaces available). Theater Rotterdam has a special sensory-free area where visitors can retreat for a moment.

How to get there?
Did you know you can easily reach the various Circusstad Festival locations by metro and tram? Most locations are just a few minutes' walk from a metro station or tram stop.

Park and Ride area
Coming from outside Rotterdam? Then park at one of the P+R lots and continue your journey to the Circusstad Festival by metro. Convenient P+R locations include Slinge, Kralingse Zoom, Alexander, Capelsebrug, Hoogvliet, Meijersplein, and Melanchtonweg. If you're continuing your journey with a public transport chip card (OV-chipkaart), parking at the P+R is free.
Travel even easier
OVpay: Easily check in and out on public transport with your contactless debit card, credit card, or mobile phone. You no longer need to buy a separate ticket. You can travel this way right away. No activation is required. For more information, visit ret.nl/ovpay.

This festival is suitable for all ages. Experience the magic of the circus with your whole family and discover new talents.
Once the show begins, admission is closed. Circus performances require high levels of concentration from the performers. Therefore, we request that you arrive at least 15 minutes before the start.
The Circusstad Festival is free to attend! Enjoy the various performances and activities taking place throughout the festival, from breathtaking acrobatics to colorful clown acts and everything in between. Please note that some performances require a ticket.
Whether you want to enjoy the performances indoors or outdoors, there's something for everyone. Even if it rains, you don't have to worry, because there are plenty of indoor performances to enjoy.

At Circusstad Festival, we only accept PIN payments. This way, you can quickly and easily pay for your tickets and your favorite snacks and drinks.
Some performances may be sold out in advance on our website due to popularity or limited capacity. However, we always reserve a few tickets to offer at the festival ticket offices. So it's definitely worth stopping by to see if there are any available. You might still have the chance to enjoy the performance you've been looking forward to! Please note that these tickets often sell out quickly, so be sure to get them in time.

How does the deposit work?
At Circusstad you pay a 50 cent deposit per drink, regardless of whether it is glass, can or hard cup.
Don't feel like lugging a glass around?
Then exchange it for a deposit token at Circ Circulair or the CircoBistro bar.
Finished drinking?
Hand in your glassware, hard cup or can at Circ Circular, or the CircoBistro bar and receive your deposit back.
You can also donate your deposit to Circusstad Festival!

It is not permitted to bring and consume your own food and drinks on the festival grounds.
Alcohol may only be consumed at CircoBistro on the festival grounds, within the boundaries of the event grounds during opening hours. We do not sell alcohol to minors.
Cameras aren't a strict plan during performances. While you're fiddling with your camera, you might miss that exciting scene. During a sneak preview, outdoor act or workshop, everything can be captured on film.
The weather in May is usually pleasant, but it can get a bit chilly in the evenings. We therefore recommend dressing in layers to stay warm during the performances.
