The Austrian creator Michael Zandl, known for the successful Sawdust Symphony, returns to Circusstad Festival with FOOD: a surprising and humorous performance about our endless hunger for more. Four young circus artists, Fidel Rott, Hedvig Brodén, Jakob Vöckler and Karin Brodén, all graduates of Codarts Circus Arts in Rotterdam, take you into an absurd world full of excess food.

In a mix of acrobatics, object manipulation, illusions and everything edible, FOOD comically and confrontingly exposes our urge to consume. An everyday act like eating derails on stage into an almost obsessive ritual of piling up, stuffing and swallowing until the concept of ‘enough’ disappears completely. The performance is a playful mirror of the commercial temptations we all face.

With FOOD, Michael Zandl once again delivers a unique performance you should not miss. Surrealism at its finest in this disturbingly delightful circus experience that lingers long after the final bite has been taken.
