In Reclaim, the small, domed tent of the Belgian company Théâtre d’un jour on the Schouwburgplein is transformed in a few seconds into a ritual place shrouded in mystery. The lyrical voice of the opera singer and two cellos form the sound world within which five circus artists express themselves powerfully through masterful hand-on-hand acrobatics. Â
The piece is inspired by the Ko’ch ritual from Central Asia, with which women reclaim their position in society and create an equal world for future generations. Expect moments of beauty, discomfort and danger; life experiences that we all know. »Reclaim« is a moving, compelling experience in which the boundaries between audience and artists blur and in which axes literally fly around their ears.Â
Reclaim won the Critics Choice Award for ‘Best Circus Show’ in Belgium in 2023 and the St-Joseph Prize at the Rio Preto Theatre Festival (Brazil) in 2024.
